Highlights from our work supporting students who learn differently.
At Be Able Learning Services, our mission has always extended beyond tutoring sessions. We believe in meeting students where they are and supporting them through partnerships, conversations, and programs that strengthen learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Over the past month, our team had the opportunity to take part in meaningful work within our community, from connecting with families and educators at a statewide dyslexia conference to working directly with middle school students through a local school partnership. Each experience reflects the heart of our work: helping students build confidence, develop skills, and feel supported in their learning journey.
Below are two recent highlights from our work in the community.
Dyslexia Awareness at the ERI Parent Conference

We recently had the opportunity to be part of something truly meaningful. Everyone Reading Illinois (ERI) hosted its twelfth annual parent conference, "Dyslexia: A Conference for Parents" on Saturday, March 7 and we were excited to be part of the conversation.
ERI is a statewide nonprofit and a leading voice in dyslexia education and advocacy here in Illinois. Their mission aligns closely with what we believe at Be Able Learning Services: that every child deserves access to excellent learning opportunities, free from educational inequity.

This year's conference was designed to help parents better understand dyslexia, feel more confident advocating for their children in school, and walk away feeling empowered. Because when parents are equipped with the right knowledge and tools, our kids thrive.

At Be Able Learning Services, we're proud to stand alongside organizations like ERI that are doing the important work of supporting families and bridging the gap between schools, teachers, and the communities they serve.

Small Classes, Big Impact: Our Work with Forest Park District 91

We're excited to share that the BAL Foundation partnered once again with Forest Park District 91 to support their Saturday Academy program and it was a great experience all around.
Four of our staff members worked directly with 7th and 8th grade students across three focus areas: math, ELA, and executive functioning. What made this program especially meaningful was the small class sizes, which gave our team the space to really get to know each student and tailor support to where they needed it most.

In math, students worked through Pre-Algebra and Algebra concepts, building both their skills and their confidence along the way. In ELA, the focus was on constructing clear, well-supported arguments, a skill that goes far beyond the classroom. And in executive functioning sessions, students learned practical tools like note-taking strategies, time management techniques, and how to use Google Calendar to stay organized and plan ahead.
These are exactly the kinds of skills that help students not just survive school but thrive in it. We're proud of the work our team put in, and even prouder of the students who showed up every Saturday ready to grow.
